Setting up an action trigger
To set up a campaign trigger select the isave.CAMPAIGN menu icon in the left hand menu.
Give your activity a name and press the CREATE button.
Select you type of trigger, you can choose between Print, eDM, Report and SMS (if your site support all these features).
Give your trigger a name and press the CREATE button.
Click on the SELECT ELEMENT button to chose the eDM you want to send as a recite.
1. Select your eDM template in the drop down list.
2. Select your eDM element in the preview window.
Set a Activity owner (optional and will only be used in reports purposes).
Select your type of time line: Absolute or Relative (the two methods will be explained later in this guide).
This guide now will follow a path based on the Relative time line choice.
Choose the data list on which you want the email recite to react upon. The eDM you selected will now be sent to new contacts that are added to the list Newsletter – temp.
You may also create a new data list if you haven’t already done that, by pressing the NEW button.
You might also select a filter if you want to segment your dialog even more. This is optional. To create a filter, click Contacts // Filters. See more info on filters here: Handling Subscribers
You might also select a number of days that you want to delay your response. If the value is set to 0, the trigger will be executed immediately. If you want the mail to be sent on a specific time of the day you might also specify a time for the execution of the trigger. Note that the format is HH:MM and the timezone on our server is CET (GMT+1).
After the activity have been executed you may also update a value on the contact. Choose the demographic field in the drop down list and type in the name of your choice. This could be a code or name of the activity to understand what campaign elements that is the latest to be triggered on the contact, only by looking at the contact demographics fields.
You might also check the box Set Action Date if you want the demographic field to contain the date of the execution of the campaign action.
You can also remove the contact from one list and add the contact to another list after the execution of the campaign action. This is how you can chain your different actions in a campaign together.
To make the action live, you have to click the Activity Status link.
The status will then change from Not Active to Active. Press the SAVE button to confirm your set up.
If you want the sender e-mail address to be unique per contact you might also check the box Set sender like ContactOwner.
The sender e-mail address of the campaign action will then be set to the address of the Owner of the contact. All Owner must be registered as isave users under System // Person.
Relative vs Absolute
The mail difference between a relative and a absolute trigger is that a Relative action executes when (or after a specified delay) a contact is added to the list that the action is listening to. An Absolute action executes at a specific date (and time) and can also be repeated every X day.
Note that the Relative actions also have a post process option (Actions after executed activity).
When you select an Absolute action you can specify one or several dates by clicking the date controller and selecting a date. If you also specify a fixed time, the action is executed at this time of day at the specified date.
After the date and time is set, press the Register job button. This can be done for unlimited dates and times.
For each registered job it will create a record for action to be triggered in the future.
If you want the job to run every day you can register one job with the box Repetative checked and the number of days filled in. Note if you want your job only to be repeated on weekdays, you need to set up 5 different triggers (one for each weekday) that is repeated every 7 day.
Type of triggers
If your site have all features enabled you can choose between 5 different triggers: Print, eDM, Report and SMS.
In a Print trigger you can choose a element or a template from isave.Print to be triggered. Note that if you use text variables in the element or template these variables must be connected to the Contact Database under variable setting and not the Personal Database as in a normal print template usually is.
When you set up a Print trigger in isave.Campaign you can insert this into a newsletter by selecting Personal Print Document (PPD) from a drop down list in the link section of isave.eDM.
eDM
In a eDM trigger you can choose a element from isave.eDM to be sent. Note that you also have two reports buttons at the bottom of the setting view that will show you a total review of the trigger or a specific report of the trigger.
Note that in a Relative eDM trigger you might also specify whom the sender of the newsletter is by checking the box Set sender like Contact Owner. The Contact Owner is specified under the contacts view and can be updated by inserting a Person Ext. Number into the CSV file with contacts for update against existing contacts in the database.
Reports
In a Report trigger you select the Person which is going to receive a e-mail with the report. Then you can choose a custom made report from the Report drop down list or you select what data list to send to the person. If the person doesn’t exist in the drop down menu, create the person under System // Person. Contact isave.BUILD to create custom made reports or use the data list as the report.
The e-mail sent to the person look like this and contains a link to the report or data list file and the same url the the file in plain text for use in text only e-mail clients.
SMS
In a SMS trigger you select the Contact list which is going to receive a SMS. The Name field is just used for archive reference. The Message field is where you type the content of the SMS. You can use all demographic fields stored on the contact in the message, just add the code (## at the start and ##) at the end of your custom made demographic field.
IE: (##Sample demographic field##)
